Light Breakfast Ideas For Dancers

Welcome back to From the Top, my friends! Today is a fun post because once again, we are COOKING! ! A big part of being a dancer is, of course, rehearsals and these rehearsals happen at all times of day, including the early morning hours. However, it is always super important to eat before rehearsals to help sustain your energy level throughout the day. Well, you all know how much I looovvee sharing recipes with my From the Top Family, so today I’ll be sharing with you four lightweight breakfast recipes/ideas that will help fill you with the nutrients that you’ll need for a day of dancing! Let’s get right into it!

Lightweight Breakfast Idea #1
“Lexi’s Vanilla Cinnamon Oatmeal”

Oatmeal is one of the best lightweight breakfast meals because you don’t have to eat a lot of it to get full. It’s a breakfast that really “sticks to your ribs” without being too heavy, which is the main objective when eating before any dance class. However, this oatmeal recipe is not your regular, shmegular oatmeal. Oh no, this is oatmeal with a little pizzaz! For this recipe, you will need:

–  1 3⁄4 cup water

–  1⁄2 cup of one minute oats

–  a dash of salt

–  a teaspoon of vanilla

–  a dash of cinnamon

–  Butter or butter supplement

–  Sweetener of your choice

–  Almond milk

Cooking Instructions:
Start by adding water to a medium sized pot. From there, add a dash of salt and place the pot of water on stove at medium heat. Once water has come to a boil, add oats, vanilla and cinnamon. Stir frequently until oatmeal is cooked thoroughly (feel free to add more water if oatmeal becomes too thick). Once cooked thoroughly, remove from heat and immediately add one tablespoon of butter or butter supplement and sweetener to taste.
From there, feel free to add almond milk and your favorite toppings such as fruit, granola, nuts or even all three! This is the fun part where you can completely make this recipe your own! See? Who said oatmeal was bland?

Lightweight Breakfast Idea #2

Bagel w/ Cream Cheese

This next breakfast idea is pretty much self explanatory and takes little to no effort!. Simply choose the brand and bagel flavor of your choice, pop it into the toaster for a few minutes and add your favorite cream cheese. Although we know that it’s not good to eat carbs excessively, carbs do fuel you with an awesome amount of energy to help get your day started. So, eat up that delicious bagel and regret nothing!

Lightweight Breakfast #3

Smoothies

Ah, smoothies! One of my personal favorites! Smoothies are a perfect choice for a morning full of dancing as they fill you up without weighing you down. They also give you a wonderful energy boost from the natural sugars found in fruit and they are packed with protein from ingredients like Greek yogurt and nuts. As a matter of fact, we have a whole blog post segment on pre-dance class smoothie recipes! So, if you’re interested in making a nice, nutritious smoothie before your morning dance rehearsals, be sure to check it out! Link will be posted below!

Lightweight Breakfast #4

Avocado Toast

And last but not least, a breakfast favorite across the board, the oh-so loved avocado toast! Avocado toast is so popular because there is honestly so many different ways that you can make it! For this particular recipe, you will need:

–  1 ripe avocado

–  Cajun Seasoning

–  1⁄4 cup of lime juice

–  2 slices of whole wheat toast

First, start by removing the pit and scooping the avocado into a bowl. Add in 1⁄4 cup of lime juice and cajun seasoning to taste. Mash ingredients together with a fork or avocado masher. From there, place your toast into the toaster oven until lightly toasted. Remove toast from toaster, spread avocado over top and enjoy!

I hope you all enjoyed these recipes and if you give any of these recipes a try, share them with us by posting a picture on Instagram and tagging us in them @fromthetopdb! We’d love to see your yummy creations! Until next Friday, have a wonderful weekend and remember…

Keep dancing!
