It’s officially September and time is beginning to wind down for year 2020. As promised in our 2020 songs for Jazz blog post, we are back again with another “Best of 2020” list for another genre of dance: Hip Hop! I must say, this list has been very fun to curate because we have seen a lot of fire hip hop music released this year. From Future and Drake to Don Toliver, today we’re getting right into the year’s rap and hip hop favorites. So, without further ado, here are From The Top’s Best Songs For Hip Hop 2020!

1. “The Worst In Me” by Kaytranada

As a long time fan of Kaytranada personally, I can confidently say that he is an artist that always delivers. With beautifully laced vocals by the lovely Tinashe, this song has a lingering quality that is perfectly interlaced with a pumping beat and thumping bassline. We can just see tons of class combos to this track!

2. “Laugh Now Cry Later” by Drake ft Lil Durk

Everyone say it with me…..”Baby”.
A recent newbie on the charts, Drake does it again with his brand new joint “Laugh Now Cry Later” featuring Lil Durk from his upcoming album. With the making of all the ingredients of a great Drake song, this track has taken the internet by storm and it’s not hard to see why.

3. “Go Crazy” by Chris Brown & Young Thug

We’re not telling you to hop out of your car in the middle of the street or anything, BUT we are highly suggesting you add this song to your next hip hop class! Chris Brown has always been known to provide a banger for the Summer and he delivered with this song once again! Add Young Thug into the mix and you’ve got a banger for sure! Whether used as a part of your class warm up or the muse for your next routine, this song holds all the potential to create a high energy masterpiece.

4. “High Fashion” by Roddy Ricch

A follow up to its successor, “The Box”, Roddy Ricch’s “High Fashion” is another hit single from his successful 2019 album “Please Excuse Me For Being Anti Social” (which is hashtag relatable). If you’re looking for a good mid tempo jam for your beginner and intermediate hip hop class, this song will provide that beautifully.

5. “Savage Remix” by Megan Thee Stallion ft Beyonce

Come on, you know we had to do it! To say that this song wasn’t one of, if not the biggest, song of 2020 would be completely untrue. From Tik Tok to our list of favorites, “Savage” by Houstin Rapper Megan Thee Stallion was one of the many songs that got us through the first half of quarantine. And just as we thought we had heard it all, The one and only Beyonce hopped on the track to give us a fire remix! From the widely known to chorus to the infamous “Only Fans” line, The Savage Remix is the perfect addition to your next Hip Hop class!

6. “No Idea” by Don Toliver

If you think we are not still obsessed with this song, then you have….no idea. See what we did there? What can we say about this track? “No Idea” by Don Toliver is an incredibly smooth track with a hauntingly catchy melody. This song is perfect for lower level classes or even for those classes that you just want to vibe in!

7. “Life Is Good” by Future & Drake

Winding down on our list with the number 7 spot, we have “Life Is Good” by Future & Drake! Known for being one of rap music’s most dynamic duos, Future and Drake are no strangers to tearing up the music charts and providing the dance world with fire hits! Since it’s release in early 2020, this song has made its way to dance classes worldwide, so it’s only natural that we think it would be perfect in your class too!

8. Lottery (Renegade) by K Camp
And now for the grand finale! Our last song on this years’ list is the one and only “Lottery” by K Camp. Aside from being a social media sensation, “Lottery” is an all around dope song that can really produce some bangin’ choreography. Known for having a bassline that knocks so hard that it will literally shake your windows, this song We even recommend throwing in some “Renegade” moves in there too. *wink wink*
