Our 2023 Music Favorites For Hip-Hop

Hello FTT Family and welcome to the second installment of our yearly music countdown! Today we will be talking about our favorite 2023 tracks for your next hip-hop class. In this post, we’ll be covering everything from great tracks for your class warm-up to songs that will make great performance numbers for any and every class level. So grab your headphones and let’s get started!

1. Turks & Caicos – Rod Wave & 21 Savage

First on our list is one of our first choices for a great intermediate piece. “Turks & Caicos” by Rod Wave and 21 Savage is a great track that has potential for so much creative exploration. The reason being is in the chill vibe that it holds. It’s not aggressive or extremely hard hitting, which is great for a class that transitioning from absolute beginner into the more challenging aspects of hip hop. In class and out, this song gets an A+ from us!

2. Gangsta Boo – Ice Spice

It was around this time last year that Ice Spice had taken the world by storm. After a majorly successful first single, she dropped her highly anticipated debut album and we have been hearing bops from her ever since. Sampling a 2000s classic, “Gangsta Boo” adds a drill twist on a familiar sound. It’s thumping baseline and naturally catchy vibe will make this the perfect addition to your next hip hop class as a combo and even a warm-up number!

3. On My Mama – Victoria Monet

An anthem for being all that and a bag of chips! Victoria Monet is a veteran in the game of music. From producing to writing some of our favorite songs for some of our favorite artists, she has made her footprint on the industry far before now. However, these past few years have been her own personal time to shine! Her hit song “On My Mama” is an ode to self confidence without apology. This song has everything from catchy lyrics to crisp horns that add just the right amount of drama to the track. Can you say combo number and performance number? Yes please.

4. Pretty Girls Walk – Big Boss Vette

With all of the fierce routines that were cropping up all over TikTok to this song, you just know we had to add this one! “Pretty Girls Walk” by Big Boss Vette has all the makings of a great class combo. It’s mid tempo beat, overlayed by a popping baseline will make this an easy choreographing venture that produces combos suited for all levels!

5. Players- Coi Leray

Winding down on our list, we have “Players” by Coi Leray. Sampling a legendary hip hop track, Coi Leray created a music piece whose lyrics haven’t left our heads in months, quite literally. “Players” is one of those tracks that really doesn’t have any haters. Whether it’s your open jam or your guilty pleasure, this song gets every one moving. Add this to your next class as a warm up or beginner combo and you’ve got a real winner!

6. Wiggy – Young Miko

And last but certainly not least is “Wiggy” by Puerto Rican rapper Young Miko! Another ode to self confidence and having a great time, “Wiggy” is a no brainer choice to add to your class music roster. This song can work as a great class opener and a fantastic advanced level combo.
