Our 2023 Music Favorites For Contemporary

Hello FTT Family! We hope you all are having a beautiful Friday! Today we are back with another installment of this year’s music favorites, continuing with Contemporary. A genre that is all about feeling and depth, in this blog post we will be listing a few songs that we think will be able to deliver in every area of your next class from warm-up to class routine. So, let’s grab our headphones and get right into it!

1. August – Taylor Swift

We have officially found your new favorite warm-up song! “August” by Taylor Swift first hit the scene a couple of years ago, but it has made quite the wave in this year especially! This song is a low key ballad that feels like hot tea tastes. “August” is a fantastic note to begin your class on and will act as the perfect soundtrack to pair with a deep stretch session. We give this track two thumbs up.

2. Anti-Hero – Taylor Swift

Let’s keep in the theme of T Swift, shall we? This next track is a personal favorite of ours! “Anti-Hero” is a catchy, viral moment all centered on spinning a negative narrative in a clever way, all with a great beat and a catchy chorus. When we listen to this song, we can’t help but see great across the floor routines. From a la seconde turn practice, to beginner leap combos, “Anti-Hero” is sure to be your technique practice match made in Heaven!

3. Vampire – Olivia Rodrigo

Alright, now let’s dive into some great combo tracks. First in this division is “Vampire” by Olivia Rodrigo. Known for making moving songs that truly hit home, Olivia Rodrigo creates the perfect class combo song with this track. This song has hard hitting lyrics, laced with a few stinging statements, all laid over a beautiful piano. If you’re looking for a great intermediate piece, you are sure to have found it with this one.

4. I Wanna Be Yours – Arctic Monkeys

Looking to create a piece with emotional depth? Look no further than “I Wanna Be Yours” by Arctic Monkeys. This song is another one that has been out for quite some times but has recently been an internet favorite. This track would make for great beginner combos, as well as beautiful duets that tell a story of love, longing and waiting.

5. Another Love – Tom Odell

And last but certainly not least we have “Another Love” by Tom Odell. This song is simply a masterpiece, from the haunting piano in the background to Tom’s unique vocal arrangements along the track. If you’re looking for a fantastic ensemble piece, this is most definitely it!
