Our 2023 Favorites For Tap

Hello From The Top Family and welcome the final installment of our music favorites for 2023! In this post we’ll be counting down our music go-tos of the year for tap! We’ll be diving into some real chart toppers that took 2023 by storm, along with a few reasons that we believe that they should find their way into your next class. So, without further ado, grab your headphones and let’s get right into it!

  1. Greedy – Tate Mcrae

First on the list is “Greedy” by fellow dancer and recording artist, Tate Mcrae! This track is all about being bad, but in all the right ways. “Greedy” is laced with a very distinct drum pattern that stays consistent throughout the entire song, almost reminiscent to early 2000s pop songs of the past, which makes it perfect for beginner/intermediate tap routines. This song can also be used as a great warm-up track as well.

  1. Ella Baila Sola – Eslabon Armado ft. Peso Pluma

Next on the list is another hit from the Latin music charts with “Ella Baila Sola” by Etabon Armado and Peso Pluma! Translated into “She Dances Alone”, this song is all about instant attraction and admiration. “Ella Baila Sola” captivates from the moment it starts with its distinct, traditional Mexican sound. Its mid tempo actually holds potential for not only beginner or intermediate classes, but advanced students can have a great time with this track also! We definitely think you’ll have a winner if you add this song to your next class!

  1. Calm Down – Rema ft. Selena Gomez

A classic love song laced over an afrobeat is none other than “Calm Down” by Rema ft. Selena Gomez. We love seeing the worlds of afrobeats and tap combine, which is why we think this song is going to make the perfect addition to your next class. This track can make for a great class combo, as well as warm-ups and across the floor technique exercises.

  1. 3D – Jung Kook ft. Jack Harlow

And now for a crowd favorite! I’m pretty sure we don’t have to explain the K-Pop phenomenon that is Jung Kook or the phenomenon that is Jack Harlow. In short, you put two artists with adoring fan bases together and you get a hit song with a great melody! We think that “3D” will make for a fantastic warm-up track or an intermediate class combo that all of your students will enjoy!

  1. My Love Mine All Mine – Mitski

Last but not least we have “My Love Mine All Mine” by Mitski. Simply put, this viral sensation of a song is absolutely beautiful! When we hear this song, we can definitely see a stunning tap duet that tells a beautiful story of a love that just feels like home. “My Love Mine All Mine” would make for a wonderful performance piece for recital or competition that will be sure to stay in the minds of your audience for months to come.

And that will do it for our final music countdown of the year! We had so much fun diving into so many various genres of music with you all this year to find some of the best of the best for your next class.
