Hello and mwahaha, FTT Family! With spooky season underway and halloween festivities kicking off soon, today we are back with a 2023 edition of our Halloween costumes for dancers! A few years back we made our first post on how to turn your everyday dancewear into a great last minute halloween costume for the season. From mermaids to swans, we’ve got a few ideas lined up this year that will help you turn heads at any and every party you step into this year. So without further ado, let’s get started!
- Mermaid
Mermaids have made quite the splash this year (all pun intended). If you’re looking to recreate a cute aquatic look this Halloween, then this first idea is for you and all you need to kick off this look is a colorful leotard. This leotard could be blue, pink, purple etc. Afterwhich, pair your leotard of choice with a long mermaid themed skirt, like this one from Amazon listed below. Add some seashell accessories and top the costume off with a mermaid themed makeup look and boom! You will be the fairest mermaid in all the land!

- Angel
Feeling a little extra good this halloween? Show just how angelic you are with this cute angel costume! All you need is a white leotard of your choice and a white dance skirt. Snag a pair of angel wings and a halo like this set from Amazon. Top it all off with a cute pair of flats or heels (if you’re feeling spicy) and we know everyone will feel oh-so blessed to be touched by an angel such as yourself!
- Goth Angel
Now for our angels who have a little something..extra. We gotchu, boo! For this goth angel costume all you need to do is swap the white leotard for a black one and add a black dance skirt or a pair of black fishnet tights. Grab a pair of black angel wings like the ones listed above from Amazon and boom! In the words of Britney Spears, it looks like you’re not so innocent after all. >:)
4. White & Black Swan
This last costume is a great BFF costume pairing. Pull up to your next halloween party by giving a nod to one of the most legendary ballets of all time, Swan Lake! The requirements for this costume are pretty self explanatory, since as ballet dancers we usually have all of these items on hand. You and your bestie just need a white and black leotard, as well as white and black rehearsal tutus. You’ll also need pink tights, some white and black swan accessory accents (found on the amazon page below) and of course your pointes or ballet flats. Put it all together and voila! You’re both ready to go. And uh, extra brownie points if you bust out a few fouettes on the dance floor. 😉
