Hello From The Top Family and happy Nutcracker season! Today we are here with an updated version of our favorite Nutcracker performances that we have enjoyed in the year 2023. We have taken the time to surf online and watch some pretty amazing nutcracker performances that you can enjoy in the comfort of your own home! So, whether you’re a die hard sugarplum fairy stan or love a good battle with the mouse king, there is a performance here that you are sure to enjoy. We will also leave the link to all of these wonderful productions down below. Now, with that being said, let’s get started with our first pick!
- Classical Ballet & Opera House
Number one on our list today is this Nutcracker production by the Classical Ballet & Opera House. This performance stood out to us, not just for its wonderful interpretation, but for its vibrant costume design! This show was filled with so many rich colors and well designed ensembles. It’s truly a feast for the eyes in dance and in aesthetic.
- San Francisco Ballet
San Francisco Ballet is amongst one of the most beloved Nutcracker productions in the hearts of dancers everywhere. As a matter of fact, we truly do not know how we didn’t mention this gem on our last list of favorites! This production is the epitome of a well choreographed nutcracker ballet. San Francisco Ballet truly delivered a magical, christmas time experience that boasts of excellence and grace. The company and organization truly did a magnificent job!
- Westside Ballet
Here at From The Top we love to see the next generation take center stage. Westside Ballet’s production of the Nutcracker is a beautiful display of up and coming talent. This production was so well put together and you can truly feel the love for the art of ballet radiating from each and every student involved. It is definitely a refreshing watch to add to your nutcracker que!
- The Nutcracker with Mikhail Baryshnikov (1977)
And last but certainly not least, we have the Nutcracker Ballet with legendary dancer Mikhail Baryshnikov! Taped in 1977, this production is absolutely legendary and another favorite amongst dancers everywhere. Mikhail shines as he always does in this production and gives us one of the most memorable performances in nutcracker history. We think that this production is a must watch this holiday season!
